"Let's Talk About It" is a book club for Middle School age tweens/teens that will focus on reading age appropriate books about the world around us, to encourage empathy and finding your voice.
Your lived experiences give you a unique perspective on each book that you read, this book club will be a space for you to share your thoughts and opinions while also listening to other viewpoints. The titles chosen will reflect current (or recent) events to help teens increase their empathy while also finding their voice to speak up about what is happening around them as the leaders of tomorrow.
Each month we'll meet to discuss a specific book (snacks will be provided while supplies last), click here for the list of books. Please try to have the book read prior to the meeting. Copies will be available to check out (with your library card) from the Teen Space the month before the meeting, or you can use our booklist here to put a copy on hold with your library card. Don't forget to check out Libby or Hoopla for eBook and audiobook formats!
Some meetings may also include a talk with a local organization. They will be there as experts on the theme of the book and will have information on how to get involved locally (or nationally).
This book club is intended for Middle School students and is open to ages 11-15. REGISTRATION REQUIRED (you'll need to register for each month separately). Please make sure to register each person attending the book club meeting so we know how many people to expect.
