Learn to preserve your family’s history with the use of our digitization and conversion equipment.
Scan old family photos and slides, or convert VHS and audiocassettes into digital formats. Sign up for a one-on-one session and receive your certificate of completion so you can come in for a DIY session later.
Bring a few of your own slides, negatives, sample VHS/cassette and/or print photos to scan. If bringing slides or negatives, you must also bring your own SD card.
Conversions are in real time (a 30 minute VHS tape will take 30 minutes to convert to an MP4 file), so plan to digitize no more than 45 minutes of video or audio.
Bring your own SD card or USB drive, which should have a capacity of at least 2 gigabytes in order to store the finished file, if you are converting VHS. Alternatively, if you have access to cloud storage that can fit a file of that size, that can be used as well.
If you are unable to attend at the designated time, fill out our One-on-One Appointment Form and a librarian will contact you to schedule a time to meet at the Main Library.
The Studio is open for DIY digitizing sessions during library hours. Check for availability at the Newspapers and Magazines desk on the first floor. First come, first served. A valid library card, and certificate of completion are required to gain access.
