Victor D. Infante is the features editor for the Telegram & Gazette, the editor of Worcester Magazine and to coordinator for the Worcester Journalism Association’s “How Journalism Works” series. Prior to starting at the Telegram & Gazette in 2002, he was a contributing writer for alt-weeklies including Worcester Magazine and OC Weekly in California, as well as various rock and poetry 'zines. He has published his poetry and fiction in numerous publications, and is the author of the full-length poetry collection, "City of Insomnia," from Write Bloody Publishing. His newest book, "Suffer For This," is available from Moon Tide Press. He's won six NENPA Awards for Arts & Entertainment Reporting, and has been a nominee six years in a row for the Boston Music Awards' "Music Journalist of the Year." In 2025 he received the Worcester Music Awards' Lifetime Achievement Award for his music journalism, and the Stanley Kunitz Medal for service to poetry. He's still a rock critic at heart.
Panelists:
Charlene Arsenault is a career journalist and editor with more than three decades of experience covering local news, arts, culture, business, and community issues in Central Massachusetts and beyond. She is the executive editor of The Worcester Guardian, a nonprofit news outlet she helped launch and grow, overseeing daily coverage, freelancers, and editorial strategy. Arsenault began her career as events and A&E editor at Worcester Magazine and has since written and edited for outlets including The Boston Globe, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, Patch, and numerous regional and national publications.
Jan Gottesman is a lifelong community journalist who joined the staff of the then-Daily Item and its associated papers in 1987 and has been reporting, photographing and editing community news since then. As an award-winning editor, reporter and columnist, she has helped the paper – in print and online – through several ownership changes. The Item, now a weekly, is owned by CherryRoad Media.
Monica Sager is the managing editor of the Swampscott Tides, bringing experience from Newsweek’s breaking news and politics team as well as regional reporting for The Eagle-Tribune. The Swampscott Tides was recently named "Startup of the Year" at the 2025 Nonprofit News Awards by the Institute for Nonprofit News. Monica holds degrees from Clark University and Northwestern University, and is part of an award-winning investigative team recognized with a George Polk Award and named a finalist for the Goldsmith Prize.
Meg Trogolo was born and raised in Massachusetts, headed north to study statistics at the University of Vermont and write for northern New England's local papers, and is now back home again to cover news, local culture, and day-to-day Worcester life for Worcester Magazine.
