The Mystery of Etta Riel
In 1934, a young Oxford, Massachusetts woman vanished on the eve of a crucial court hearing, leaving behind her infant daughter and few clues to her fate. Her story captured the imagination of regional and national media but was never resolved.
Worcester State Librarian and archivist, Ross Griffiths, has collected newspaper articles and other primary sources related to her case and will tell this puzzling and tragic tale of a missing mother and the daughter that never gave up looking for her.
